Kuwait Olympic Village
The Kuwait Olympic Village is a self-supporting village that will be an international sporting events center, capable of hosting up to 16 sports for national, regional, and global sporting events. The concept design uses beaches, shells and desert oasis as concepts, which inspires the landscape design. The design integrates function with nature and local culture. The concept is represented by different landscape elements all over the site, such as wavy fence, wavy paving pattern, spiral sculpture, and streamlined planting areas. It is manifest in shell-like appearance of large stadiums, and in the sails-like wavy roofs providing shade. The design also provides a variety of use areas for shopping, recreation, and gathering after game events. The project also includes substantial facilities for media services, police, public observation decks, as well as a public mosque. Among the buildings featured in the village are the following: Main Buildings: • Football Stadium • Olympic Swimming Complex • Team Sports Stadium • Individual Games Stadiums • Athletics Track & Field Stadium • Racquet Games Stadiums Support facilities: • Athletes’ Residences • International Committee Center • Police Station • Public Mosque • Observation Tower with rotating café • Ticket Offices & Village Entrances • Central covered circulation spine
